About the TARROW TOKYO × SOCIAL APARTMENT Neighbors Higashijujo collaboration

This collaborative project was launched with the aim of adding a little bit of playfulness to TARROW's simple and basic style, making it enjoyable for more people.

The unique ideas and user-oriented ideas that can only be born in a social apartment where people of various industries, ages, and nationalities gather, have been combined with TARROW's know-how in clothing manufacturing to create a new item. This piece was created over a period of about four months, reflecting the opinions of the residents.

CONCEPT

"Clothes that connect people"

The theme of this collaboration is:
"Clothes that connect people."
This idea came from one of the members who moved into the social apartment, who was worried about whether he would be able to get along with everyone.
It was born from this feeling.

Wearing the same clothes or doing things together creates a sense of unity and naturally connects you with someone.
I thought it would be great if there was clothing that could serve as an opportunity for this.
I put this idea into shape.

"FLEECE JACKET" is not just clothing,
It is designed to be an item that will create opportunities for people to connect with each other.

The wearer is the catalyst,
It encourages moments when natural conversations arise.
For example, if someone says to me, "That outfit is cute,"
"Actually, this was thought up by someone with no experience in making clothes," the conversation expands, and a new connection is born.
We cherish that moment and pay particular attention to the materials and production background.

In addition, functionality has been taken into consideration to expand the range of situations in which it can be worn.
From everyday use to outdoor activities,
The design is suitable for a variety of occasions.

Ep.1 Meeting

The collaboration began with a face-to-face meeting with the members of Social Apartment.

Members from different industries and backgrounds came together and, despite meeting for the first time, shared their thoughts and enthusiasm for manufacturing.

While respecting the opinions of both sides, discussions were held to determine the direction of the project, and the core concept of the product was firmly established.

Ep.2 Planning and material selection

The next step was to select materials to give shape to the idea. In order to reflect the theme of the collaboration, we considered various materials, placing emphasis on usability and functionality.

Particular attention was paid to comfort and durability, and materials that could be used for a wide range of purposes, from everyday life to outdoor activities, were selected. After sharing their opinions with all the participants, the final choice was an American-made fabric that combines breathability and cold protection.

The selection of materials gradually gave shape to the overall concept of the product.

Ep.3 Sample check and color selection

Once the material was decided, we moved on to the stage of creating samples and deciding on the color. When I held the sample in my hand, I felt that it had the feel I had envisioned, but that some fine-tuning was still necessary.

Choosing the colors in particular took a long time. We tried out several options at first, but ultimately narrowed it down to two colors: lime and dark gray.

This colour was chosen based on the opinions of the residents and proved to be the one that resonated most with them, further clarifying the image of the collaborative items.

Ep.4 Adjustment and attachment specification

Once the sample was complete and we were working on fine-tuning the details, it was time to decide on the specifications for the accessories.

We had careful discussions about how to balance usability with design, particularly with regard to the zippers, pocket shapes, and tag design.

The zipper tag will be engraved with the English translation of Neighbors Higashijujo's catchphrase, "A small lifestyle revolution that starts with coffee." This gives the collaborative items a sense of identity and makes them stand out.

Ep.5 Pop-up Exhibition

The completed items were shown to the public for the first time at a pop-up exhibit.

Customers who actually tried the products gave them high praise for the texture of the materials and the design.

This exhibition was a valuable opportunity to check the completeness of the project and was a great encouragement to the collaboration team.
