Once the first sample is completed, we then move on to the detailed work of finalizing the details and moving forward to commercialization.
●A selection of colors that are hard to choose
When deciding which colors to use, we had them look at a sample book. We checked the differences in colors in detail, even though they might not be obvious unless you look closely.
Neighbors Kamikitazawa Team: When the sample yarn is made into fabric, will it turn out to be this exact color? Taro: What you're looking at now is just a bundle of yarn, so it may look a little different when it's knitted into fabric... |
Colour is certainly very important. Even a slight difference can change the impression, so I carefully selected a few colours that caught my eye and made knitted fabric (fabric made by knitting yarn).
By doing this, you can generally avoid situations where the color turns out to be completely different from what you expected.
Here is the actual knitted fabric I made.
In fact, at this time, we were also thinking of making the brand tag original, so we did a test print. In our preliminary research, we found that "relaxation" and "comfort" were important, so we decided to print the brand tag on the sensitive area of the neck.
The design is made to make it clear that it is a double name of Neighbors and Taro.
● Decide the size to deploy
One of the important themes this time is "making clothes by thoroughly considering what kind of clothes the neighbors living within a 3m radius would like and want." Gender is not a factor here, so we aimed to develop sizes that can be chosen by both men and women.
Ideally, it would be best to have separate sizes for men and women, but if you misread the balance between demand and availability, you will inevitably end up with excess inventory.
We agonized over it until the very end, and after making about three samples, we finally decided to offer it in S/M/L sizes, with the S size being made for women.
Which fabric is better?
The first sample was made of two fabrics: a soft, firm fabric, and a sturdy, high-quality fabric made with tightly twisted yarn. We gave both samples to the team and had them wear and wash them for a certain period of time to see which one was better.
It was difficult to decide as each design has its own merits, but again we decided to prioritize the "relaxation" and "comfort" that came up in our preliminary research, and went for a soft, firm fabric.
Details that will improve your quality of life just a little bit
We paid particular attention to even the smallest details, with the hope that this loungewear will help improve the quality of your life, even if just a little.
As an element of detail
・Printed brand tag ・V -shaped gusset
・Piss name on the sleeve cuffs |
We pay close attention to details such as these, but we also added pockets to this garment as an important element in improving its quality.
The pockets are sized so that your smartphone and wallet fit comfortably.
This is clothing that you can wear both indoors and outdoors, so it's very useful for a quick trip to the convenience store or for short outings.
From the beginning, the team told us that pockets were a must-have.
Once the color, fabric, and specifications have been decided, the final sample will be made. Next, we will introduce the final chapter, product explanations and photo shoots.
