Mika Hayashi, Owner of Tequila Bar M: "Isn't it great to have a job where you can provide what you love to your loved customers?"
Please introduce yourself.
Hayashi: My name is Mika Hayashi.
I run a tequila bar.
Many people mistakenly believe that tequila is made from cactus, but it is actually made from 100% Agave Azul, a plant of the Aloe family, which in Japan is called " agave " . At the base of this Agave (a general term for plants of the Agave family) grows a fruit called "Piña". It takes about 5 to 10 years for this fruit to grow.
The deeper you peel the skin, the sweeter and tastier the tequila you will get.
The skin of the piña contains a small amount of spirit, so it is first steamed, crushed, and distilled two or three times. It is then aged in used bourbon barrels, or in wine barrels for the pink-colored tequila, and is always aged in used barrels.
What inspired you to start a tequila bar?
Hayashi: Tequila itself wasn't something I particularly liked to drink.
By chance, I came across this delicious tequila called "ASOM BROSO" and it completely changed my concept of tequila. I wanted to learn more about it, so I went to get a Tequila Maestro certificate and that's how I got to where I am today.
It's very simple, but I live really close to here, I got my maestro qualification, and there wasn't a place nearby where I could drink good tequila, so I thought I'd give it a try (laughs).
That's really the reason.
I think it’s a drink that’s perfectly suited to women.
Tequila is something that people tend to shy away from, so I hope that more women will be able to try good quality tequila.
What is good about running a tequila bar and what are your plans for the future?
Hayashi: Isn't it great to have a job where you can provide the things you love to customers you love?
Of course, I can drink a variety of tequilas, and through this bar I've been able to meet people I would never have met otherwise, form a circle of friends, and make friends through tequila, so I'm glad I did it.
We would like to continue providing our many customers with delicious tequila and change their perception of tequila.
Finally, please tell us your honest thoughts about how TARROW TOKYO clothes feel when you try them on.
Hayashi: The T-shirt I'm wearing now by TARROW TOKYO has already been washed several times.
But it doesn't lose its shape at all.
The material feels great and your underwear won't show through.
It's a white T-shirt, but you can wear it by itself.
I think this is a T-shirt that looks great on both men and women.
