TARROW TOKYO × SOCIAL APARTMENT Collaboration Project Article.1 | TARROW TOKYO
In this article, we will be introducing the project once again and walking you through the process up to its completion in several parts.
What is the TARROW TOKYO×SOCIAL APARTMENT “Roomwear Project”?

Although Taro is confident in his honest manufacturing, he was faced with the challenges of "To what extent are we considering the perspective of the wearer?" and "Is it possible to create clothes with more unique ideas?" This project was started because of this.
In early 2023, Taro staff learn of the existence of "social apartments."
Not a share house, This is an apartment building with a new lifestyle where residents can enjoy interacting with each other. (Everywhere in the apartment building, there are ingenious ideas to improve the quality of life.)
I had the opportunity to visit the apartment building and while listening to the residents' stories and lifestyles, I thought it would be great if we could do something together with the people who live here.
- To what extent does it take the wearer's perspective into account?
- Is it possible to create clothes with more unique ideas?
This might provide some clues to solving this problem. And more than anything, I began to think that this would be a good experience for Taro.
When we consulted with Global Agents, the operator of the facility, about the challenges and initiatives Taro was facing, they arranged for us to actually communicate with the residents.
After informing the residents in advance, I spoke with many residents who were interested in making clothes at online meetings. My honest impression was that no matter who I worked with, I felt that I could create things that I would never have thought of on my own.
As this was Taro's first project of this kind, we wanted to proceed carefully, so we conducted several pre-surveys and held auditions to narrow down the number of people involved to a number that would be able to properly reflect their opinions, and we decided to start the project as a team. (We would like to once again thank the more than 70 people who were interested in this project and participated.)
● Team "Neighbors Kamikitazawa"
After the auditions were over, the six people who ended up working with us on the project were residents of Neighbors Kamikitazawa.

In the responses to the questionnaire we conducted in advance, the team was impressive, with each answer being a huge amount of text filled with enthusiasm, they also directly emailed us questions, shared their thoughts in videos, and took a lot of extra action.
As creators, we are very grateful for this enthusiasm and it gives us optimism about the project, so we selected these six people as project members.
●Why did you decide to participate in this project?
Team Leader: I had just been thinking about making clothes when the information about this project came at a perfect time. At first, I didn't really think much of it.
I happened to be close with some of the members, and as we talked about how to participate in this project, we found that everyone had an incredible passion for clothes, so we decided to go all out and do it, and before we knew it, we were spending hours every day talking about it lol
Looking back at this time now, I realize it was very important.
They all have one thing in common: they love clothes. But they also each have their own aspirations for taking part in this project, such as an interest in manufacturing, a desire to empower people through clothing, or a desire to create clothes that solve the problems they face in everyday clothing. That is how the project started. In the next post, I will talk about the actual clothes that will be made.
