-Please tell us about your new knitwear item. This is the first time TARROW has produced winter knitwear, right? Why did you decide to produce knitwear this time?
Taro A: Yes, I had been thinking about creating a knitwear lineup for a while. However, there were many hurdles to overcome, such as where to produce them and the rising cost of raw materials, so I couldn't get started.
Since it's a TARROW product, it was difficult to create something that we were happy with, at a reasonable price, and with quality that would last a long time.
- I see. It's true that branded knitwear has a reputation for being expensive, so it seems like it would be difficult to adjust. The knitwear for this project is produced overseas, but was that something you considered when making it overseas?
Taro A: No, that's not the case. Actually, I used to live overseas, and I remembered a factory I came across there that specialized in knitwear. I decided to go ahead and consult with them, and they said they would work with me, so we decided to produce overseas.
-TARROW has a strong image of domestic production, but weren't you particular about manufacturing in Japan?
Taro A: Of course, I trust domestic technology, and I always want to boost Japan. But more than that, I think it doesn't matter where the product is made, as long as I can feel the motivation, feelings, and humanity of the maker, and their passion and commitment to the product. I'd like to involve those people and help defeat the red demon, even if just a little. There are no borders when it comes to defeating demons (laughs).

This knit is thick and very comfortable to wear. Is there anything special about it?
Taro A: Well, there are a lot of reasons, but first of all, the yarn is wool, which ensures the comfort of the garment. Also, the market today is full of cheap materials like acrylic, which quickly pill and become loose, so you end up buying a new one the next year. I wondered about that too, so I decided from the beginning to use natural fibers that can be used for a long time.
Of course, it depends on the person. I wanted to incorporate the unique features of TARROW , so I chose a high-quality, smooth material that is 100 % wool with 90% merino wool.
In addition, the knitting structure is a mid-gauge jacquard, and by using two strands of yarn, it has an exquisite texture.It can be worn on its own, or as an inner layer to keep you warm and wear for long periods of time.
*Merino wool: Wool with finer fibers than regular wool, excellent moisture absorption, and a soft feel against the skin.
- Indeed, it looks like it could be worn in early autumn and could also be used as an inner layer in winter. The colors are also new and fresh, as they haven't been in the lineup until now.
Taro A: That's right. To be honest, I had a hard time deciding on the colors. We discussed it as a team and talked about which colors would be best, but since this is my first winter knitwear, I decided to go for a color that I haven't used before. The red pullover has a nice color and I think it would look good on both men and women, so I recommend it!
- I was a fan of OATMEAL, but RED is definitely good.
The silhouette is cute and it looks easy to match with other items. What kind of outfit would you wear with this, Taro A? (lol)
Taro A: Hmm, I'll pair a red knit with TARROW jeans. It's simple but cool.
-I hope you'll make cashmere products at an affordable price someday.
Taro A: Cashmere, huh... (laughs) It seems like it would be pretty difficult because of the high cost. But if this fall/winter collection is well-received, I'll try it next year! (laughs)
