TARROW TOKYO × SOCIAL APARTMENT Article.2
This time, I will explain the process of deciding which clothes to make. Please see the previous post for an explanation of the project.

Nice to meet you, everyone at Neighbors Kamikitazawa

First meeting with the six members of Neighbors Kamikitazawa.

As we will be working together on projects for some time to come, we asked them to come to our office so that we could have a relaxed conversation.

●Project Concept

This was Taro 's first time undertaking a collaborative project like this , so he was unsure of how to proceed and began the project feeling his way around.

First, we exchanged opinions and compiled keywords that seemed important.

  • Long-lasting clothes

  • Clothes that will improve your quality of life just a little bit

  • Clothes that spark communication

  • Washable clothes without worry

  • Clothes that can be worn both outside and inside

We also established a common understanding to ensure that the plan did not go astray.

  1. "What we want to achieve through this project is to seriously create something within the scope of our reach, without spreading ourselves too thin."
  2. "We create clothes by thoroughly exploring what kind of clothes our neighbors living within a 3m radius would like and want."

After talking this far, the outline of the plan is finally beginning to emerge.

In this project, we aim to get to the heart of the issues that are unique to the people living in Neighbors, and ultimately to create clothes that can solve issues faced by the general public.

After much discussion, we decided to make "loungewear."
There are some challenges that have led to this.
The problem was, "I'm not sure what to wear when going to the shared space (lounge)."

The shared spaces in social apartments are shared by other residents, so you need to be aware of what other people think. A surprising number of people take the trouble to change into their clothes when using the spaces.

If we could create clothes that could be worn indoors, in shared spaces, and even when going out, they could be useful to a variety of people, including those who work remotely.

With this in mind, we decided to create "loungewear."

Washable, comfortable to wear, and looks expensive. I want these three things to come true.

The requirements for each scene are different.
For example, when it comes to loungewear, it is important that it is "comfortable to wear."
For outerwear, I want it to have a sophisticated look without being too casual.

And above all, since you will likely be using them frequently, it would be preferable to choose clothes that you don't feel stressed about having to wash.

It was from this process that the concept for the project was created.
Next time, we will show you how to make a sample.
